EnerDel Partners with Nuvation Energy to provide a 2MW
Energy Storage System

olis, IN – 28 August 2018 – EnerDel, a leading supplier of advanced lithium-ion batteries, announces a partnership with Nuvation Energy. EnerDel and Nuvation Energy have partnered together to help provide a 2MW Battery Energy Storage System to a wastewater treatment facility in Santa Rosa, CA. This project affords EnerDel the opportunity to further expand its stationary energy storage solutions for back-up and emergency power, grid stabilization, and renewable integration. “This containerized solution is a great opportunity for EnerDel to re-enter the stationary energy storage business,” said Tod Becherer, Grid and Energy Storage Account Manager. “We are happy to be the battery supplier for Nuvation Energy and help provide a 2MW system that will assist in demand response.”
EnerDel will be providing over four hundred Moxie+ Battery Modules to help support the Nuvation Energy designed custom energy storage system. In the event of a demand response event, the compact 588 kWh ESS can output 2MW of power for 15 minutes. The energy storage system supports a wastewater treatment plant in Santa Rosa, CA to rapidly reduce power demand from the grid and assist in the ramp-up of onsite diesel generators. “EnerDel has been a great partner throughout this project,” said Scott Lammers, Engineering Manager at Nuvation Energy. “They provided the strong engineering support and detailed technical data we needed to design their batteries into the ESS. Also, given the compact physical size of the energy storage container, EnerDel’s high energy density batteries proved to be an excellent choice for this project.”
The Moxie+ Battery Modules are EnerDel’s building blocks for every battery pack that is produced. The modules are comprised of 24 battery cells and are designed with robust packaging to protect the cells against physical damage and vibration hazards. The design of the module offers versatility across a variety of uses including energy storage, transportation, marine, military and industrial applications.
